Artificial intelligence is simply making programs which are capable of thinking and driving hardware, on their own. AI was aimed at making lives easier, making things work on their own, with 0 human interaction. Everyone working on AI has one goal in mind, to make it easier for humans to sustain and thrive on this planet. But most people fear AI for practical reasons, and why shouldn’t they?

AI at one point of time might be capable of wiping out the entire human race in an hour or so. Robots are highly capable in both strength and thoughts, that’s the only thing that would separate us and let us down if it comes down to that. AI can essentially ensure they stay at top of the pyramid, with humans working for robots, instead of following orders. But that’s a different story, and for another time, today we will discuss how artificial intelligence will benefit humans, instead of destroying humanity.

So, here are some advantages and privileges we can enjoy, with AI on our side.

Automation of tasks

Artificial intelligence can aid one of the most important factors in the development of our planet: it can do tasks error-free, efficiently, and much faster than humans. Everything happening around us has human labor attached to it some way or the other, at some point in the cycle. AI can omit the need of a human to make intelligent decisions, and in case something goes off, AI could think and make out what to do, on its own.

Some of the industries which will have the most impact of AI replacing humans.

Manufacturing

Different manufacturing industries produce a lot of things, mostly through a machine which requires some kind of input from humans. AI can command the machines to perform a particular task. This field is called machine learning and aids how machines can be controlled without any sort of human interaction, and along the way learn what to do in certain situations.

Programming

AI will be able to write exclusive pieces of codes and produce software which aids humanity and doesn’t require much from us. We are not talking about self-fulfilling IDEs, but programs which can make decisions depending upon the task at hand.

Labor

Different kinds of labor are being replaced by robots, be it in industries, or in households. The finest example of this are the small robots replacing house maids for vacuuming the house called Roombas. Soon, there will be robots which can deliver raw material from place to place without any requirement of humans controlling the machine. This could mean that someday robots will be able to create buildings and houses just based on an architect’s design.

Hyper-connected world

AI allows our world to be connected, to a level that we may simply wish something, and it would happen. Artificial intelligence will be like a different kind of internet, where everything would go on just the way humans wish. This net of artificial devices would allow us to tap into the full potential of IoT more than ever.

This could be interpreted as the next level of IoT. AI would be working behind the IoT devices. This would allow us to tap into luxury of another kind, like thermostats set to the temperature we talked about in a conversation, fully self-driving cars, self-ordered grocery and much more. The devices would be capable of sharing information that the soap in the dispenser is about to finish, and the domestic AI would order more on its own. These things may feel like a fantasy in current times, but the initial phase is already being implemented.

Health care research

Health care is something we strive to be on top of, but we still lack capabilities to think and contemplate medical things happening to ourselves. Robots won’t rely on subjective opinions and would rather find concrete evidence and solutions for diseases.

AI can change everything, with things going deeper, we will also develop a better knowledge of the human body and increase lifespans significantly. Diseases like cancer take a lot of research to be omitted from our lives, but AI solutions will change this by recommending necessary measures for it to be treated.

Efficiency

Using robots as workers means less downtime: not even lunch breaks. Robots can work 24 hours without breaking a sweat, and when they wear out, just throw the old one to be recycled and get a new one. Humans need breaks, wages, sick leaves, and still can’t be 100% efficient when they work. AI is sure to replace humans in repetitive jobs and those that aren’t related to our creativity.

Conclusion

The things AI can do right now are enough for our needs, so for now, things may or may not change radically in the future. AI provides us a lot of advantages, incomparable to anything else in the world. We know very well how it would benefit us, but if things went downhill, AI can eradicate our entire race, and we won’t even get time to think about what happened. With great power comes great responsibility, but the question is, should we put the responsibility for war and peace on the shoulders of an army of tin cans?
