“With IoT, we’re headed to a world where things aren’t liable to break catastrophically – or at least, we’ll have a hell of a heads up. We’re headed to a world where our doors unlock when they sense us nearby.”

— Scott Weiss

Do you know the best part of avant-garde technology?

Nope!

Well, it always has something in store to leave us amazed. By all means, today’s technology has made our life easier, but there are several possibilities that are yet to be unlocked.

I ponder the future when such possibilities have been unlocked, what our life is going to be like… I would love to close a door by giving voice commands. Thinking I am daydreaming? Well, pal, this is possible with IoT (internet of things).

What is IoT? Please check out my other write-up:

What Is Internet of Things (IoT)? Here Is A Simple Explanation!

If industry reports are anything to go by, the IoT market has a bright future. According to Gartner, the number of IoT devices is 14.2 billion in 2019 itself, and this number will reach 25 billion by 2021. It is startling, isn’t it?

Today, I am going to lift the curtains from the top 3 IoT trends which you should watch out for. So, let’s roll:

1. Healthcare industry will aim to reap more benefits via IoT

If we talk about one industry which is aggressively investing in cutting-edge technology, be it concerning AI or IoT, then it would only be ‘Healthcare industry.’

For medical business owners, nothing could be more valuable than patients. Only those hospitals witness a heavy footfall of patients, which promise better treatment. Through applications of artificial intelligence, the healthcare industry has really raised the bar.

After artificial intelligence, now it is believed that the healthcare industry is aiming to reap benefits via IoT. As per one recent report, by 2021, the value of IoT devices in the medical field will hit the $72 billion mark.

Thanks to IoT enabled devices, patients these days can easily monitor their health and maintain reports along with doctors. Owing to IoT based devices, doctors can do crucial tasks like checking patients’ blood sugar levels remotely. This saves significant time of both parties i.e. doctors and patients.

2. Omnipotent smart devices will come to the market sooner

The most cited benefit of the internet of things is it makes the devices work ‘smartly’. Smartphones are a vivid example. With our smartphones, we can do many things from shopping to gaming, to banking, to listening to our favorite music.

But this is just the start, as omnipotent smart devices are all set to hit the market. There is some serious work going on concepts like smart homes and smart offices. There is a high possibility this hard work is likely to pay off in the near future.

If the latest industry reports are anything to go by, in 2020, the consumer electronics industry will surpass the profit value of 2 trillion dollars.

All in all, there is a great possibility that you will see devices powered by IoT that will be sweeping floors, making delicious food, or acting as a security guard for you in the near future.

3. Marketing companies will embrace IoT to uplift the success rate

Marketing has always been instrumental in the business world, as it accelerates sales growth, which as a positive corollary, uplifts profit levels. In contemplation of amplifying the success rate while handling marketing campaigns, companies are showing great interest in the internet of things.

As we know, new products get launched in the market after every short time period, thus using smart devices could prove very effective while doing marketing.

By means of IoT, companies can create more marketable products. For example, an automobile manufacturer can promote his/her car which enables the driver to order Starbuck’s coffee through voice commands. Put simply, IoT can help in making marketing campaigns successful

Currently, the amazing news is that Uber and Spotify have collaborated with the purpose of ensuring a more enjoyable travelling experience.
